Food is very average. Not much flavor in the brisket and pickles are clearly slices from a jar. You know it's bad when the raw onions and Wonder Bread steal the show.

Sure! Here's a polished and more humanized version of your review with a positive tone and the requested edits:---In town on business and stumbled upon this BBQ spot—so glad I did! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm welcome from the staff at the counter. Though they were out of ribs, they walked me through what was available and even offered a sample of the smoked turkey. I ended up ordering the brisket and turkey, along with sides of green beans and potato salad. While waiting, I had a great chat with the gentleman at the counter—super friendly and made the experience even better. The food did not disappoint. Both the brisket and turkey were full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The green beans had that slow-cooked, savory taste, and the potato salad had a nice balance of sweetness and a little kick.Might have to swing by again to try those ribs! Highly recommend this place if you're craving some quality BBQ and great service.---Would you like me to format it for a specific review site like Yelp or Google?

Our food was not very good. The brisket was rubbery as though it hadn't been cooked long enough, and the pork steak was not edible...tough and it had a funny smell, like it was old meat. The service was great. Very nice people, friendly and helpful. The table where we sat needed a good wipe down, but it wasn't awful.Overall we were highly disappointed. If the food had been good, you'd put this place on the map as a national treasure for its historic importance. But the food was just not acceptable. Not even close. The sides were fine, average and edible. But the star of the show, slow cooked smoky meats, felt rushed to the point of being some of the worst "highly rated" BBQ I've ever had, and I've had from Lockhart to Luling, Dallas to the RGV, and then some.Gonna give them another try soon. We'll see.

I was down in Victoria for work on the Guadalupe River, I asked my crew what everyone was in the mood for & they said burgers. I said no that's fine we'll do what I want and thank God Almighty I took over. The best BBQ is always behind a blank brick or wooden wall, and that I can swear to (all those hip places with neon lights and seltzer drinks be darned).Unassuming from the outside, but like I walked in to my 1998 family reunion at my Nana's house on the inside. Cowboys jerseys hung by the door, a tv central to all the seating spots, signs that my Aunt Laura would coo at... you're home, baby!I happened to be standing next to an expert, a local who's there almost everyday. Unfortunately I ordered before I asked him for advice. He went ribs and brisket, I went turkey and sausage. He did say the green beans were the best side and thankfully some kind of premonition came over me when I was ordering my sides (usually a slaw & potato salad gal- but I ditched the slaw and went green beans).I have NEVER had green beans this good. If I wasn't seated theydve brought me to my KNEES I am telling you! The potato salad was insane, never had it sweet before and it was so good I saved it for dessert! The meat- butter. Sausage was crisp on the outside but tender and juicy inside. Turkey felt like I was eating cotton candy, couldn't even get it on my fork it just kept falling apart. To the regular in front of me.. thank you for the suggestions but I think I KNOWWW did it right. Now for my crew, they were grateful. Y'all want burgers? No you don't. Let me tell you what you want. You want Mumphord's. When one guy sat down and went to pick up a rib, and the meat fell right off, I could see the tear form in his eyes. I told y'all!! Another... he's an Old Testament man, doesn't eat pork. Didn't realize until his ribs were gone and I said "THEYRE PORK" he said "I am forgiven". The brisket was softer than the turkey!! The only thing none of us got was the chicken, which just means next time we're down- someone's getting a whole bird.Thank y'all for the good food, the laughs in the line, the kindness to some strangers passing through & for decorating with America's Team (it's our year!)

The barbecue here tastes delicious; there's no question about that. Located on Juan Linn a bit past the old school HEB downtown. Took me a bit to find it. Outside of building looks a bit grungy, but the food is great. Inside is uniquely decorated with a TV playing. Not really a lot of drink selections besides water and tea. But still a five star because I always get take out from here!I recommend the barbecue chicken plate with potato salad and beans. The barbecue sauce is really good, and the banana pudding desert is delicious. Fast and prompt with the order, though I did have a bad experience with them not using my proper pronouns.Give it a try it you want classic Texas barbecue!
