Smoked chicken was absolutely amazing and I had enough off of that one entrée for three meals. My boyfriend also had the rainbow plate and even he had leftovers. It's very clean very service oriented. and seems to be popular with locals. I was just slightly out of town with this old man just most better than the one in Rockwall and in Garland.!

The service was spot on, everyone very polite and helpful. Here's a breakdown of what I had: Two meat plate with hot links( these were very good with a nice bit of spice to them which the store bought ones often lack) along with the sliced brisket ( nice and juicy, but had zero seasoning on it which was a bit odd), mashed potatoes and gravy ( that also lacked any seasoning) and the ranch house beans(these were pretty tasty with all sorts of hidden little gems thrown in) and probably the best sweet tea I've had in a cool minute (perfectly sweet). All in all I found it to be a good value for the money and other than things not being seasoned that great I would go back. On a side note, their spicy BBQ was really good and definitely gave the brisket a little kick, but as a native to these lands I don't want to have to put sauce on my brisket, sometimes I just want to have some tasty meat(no homo).

This was the second time I ate at Soulmans, first time taking my family. My twins are pretty hard to satisfy at almost 4.. not here. They almost finished their plates!! Great smoked meat. Ribs seemed a little over cooked but still had great flavor. To be honest, my 3 plate didn't seem to have enough meat on it. I said something to the girl at the cash register, manager came over and said" Let me fix that" and he did. Came back with what so thought would have been a 3 meat plate. That made me not only happy that it seemed fair but that they listened and made it right. I definitely will go back. Thank you Soulman!! Kelly P

So Jeff... how come you give so many places a 5 Star Review... I'm glad you asked.... I'm pretty much going to only give a 5 or 1 based on a first impression and then adjust accordingly if I return and feel differently. It's pretty much based on if the place meets and exceeds the expectations being represented by the brand and branding of the individual location and the perceived value gained as a result of patronage to the establishment. That being said... this place, whole hog killed it. BBQ was great, awesome sauces on the side, as it should be in Texas. Prefect atmosphere, friendly folks smiling and taking your order menu at the front counter cafeteria style. All the sides were down home delicious.

If I could give this local Soulman's BBQ a ZERO, I would. Spent some time with my family last week because we were celebrating my mother's birthday and we had so much fun that no one was ready to go home, so I went with my dad to grab some ribs to take home for us to eat. I don't live out here, but I wanted to continue enjoying the day with my mother so we paid $64 for 2 slabs of ribs to only get home and not be able to eat, much less chew through them. I like to cuss, but for the sake of my parents' seeing this, I'm gonna hold off. I don't know how long the ribs were sitting under the heat lamp, so we told them we didn't want those, to give us some out of the oven because the ones under the heat lamp looked old and dry. The counter person said they were fresh, but sir...we know what fresh ribs look like!! The sheer audacity...he said he went to the oven to grab some fresh ones, so we paid for our purchases. We asked for some extra bbq sauce because we had 2 slabs, what was an 8oz. container of sauce going to do for 6 people trying to eat ribs?? But anywho, we get home and those ribs were so dry, overcooked and ran through!!!! I almost broke a tooth trying to chew through this mess; look at them!! I've had better from the other locations around the DFW, but I was sooo disappointed in these, especially considering how I was craving BBQ anyway. It was such a waste of time. I've never been to Juniors out there, maybe I should!!!!
