Don't let the entrance fool you. This place is impressive from the moment you park your vehicle until the time you leave! We've never had fries prepared the way they are here. The service was awesome (the number 1 hostess seated us in a good location), and even though we're not exactly sure who the main wait person was (even the owner followed up to make sure all was well), our drinks were never allowed to become empty. We split an appetizer and the Texas Ranger (which was also prepared perfectly). And the peacocks (did I mention there were peacocks?) chimed in from outside to voice their opinion. I don't normally give 5 stars, but this place earned it!

Very very relaxing and pleasant place both inside and out. Live easy music in evening. Shady oak trees everywhere. So nice and will most certainly be back soon. Great food also.

Beautiful setting with peacocks, live music and a cozy atmosphere. Our waitress was great, however the food was a mixed bag and took quite some time to arrive. We had two appetizers, the deep-fried mac and devils eggs, the former was delicious and the second also quite good. But our entrees were disappointing, especially the meat. The sliced brisket was super dry and the filet mignon was overcooked and lacked flavor. Sides were okay and so were the burger, ribs and sausage. I would probably visit again and avoid the brisket. It's such a cute place and we loved all the birds, the garden and restaurant interior.

While visiting Lubbock last month to perform an inspection at a state facility, I was recommended several eating locations by campus management. I am so glad to have listened and went to lunch at this place. The Escondido Grill is a hidden gem. Ironically, Escondido means hidden in spanish. The place was rustic looking and sat in a beautiful ranch style plot of land that had a steam, small boardwalk, and wild peacocks roaming the grounds. Menu selection was large. I had the Salmon Ceasar Salad meal, and it was awesome. The salmon was perfect cooked, and salad was fresh and tasty. I highly recommend it. My waitress "Taylor" was awesome, very customer friendly, and checked on me several times while refilling my ice tea. She was informative and gave me a little history on the grill and its beautiful landscape. The bonus was that the manager came by to see me to make sure that I was having a good experience. Also, the meal was very inexpensive for its portion and good quality salmon. I will definitely return when I am in town again.
