One of the 50 runners-up. in the 2021 Texas Monthly Magazine listing of The 50 Best BBQ Joints. In our judgment, it belongs in the top fifty, period. We had a terrific lunch, centered on a 3 meat platter (brisket, jalapeno cheddar sausage, ribs), 2 side (spicy spaghetti, cucumber salad) plate, with an additional 6 ounce side of pinto beans. All 3 of the meats are very, very good, with the ribs among the very few that we have eaten in Texas that would hold their own in KC or Memphis. The pinto beans are exceptional, the other two sides very good. The cold spaghetti is indeed spicy, and the cucumber salad (mercifully) not drowning in vinegar. It was a welcome alternative to coleslaw as a palate cleansing bite moving between the various meats. Later, we went back for a banana pudding, which was not overly sweet, and a very light and tasty slice of coconut meringue pie. Either would make a decent finish to an excellent meal. We highly recommend that you visit this venerable Junction establishment.
Yes there was a line but it was all worth the wait this has to ve the first BBQ place that puts a bigger size portion of meat.
Got the 3 Meat plate brisquet, ribs, and jalapeño & cheese sausage with mac & cheese and spicy spaghetti
It is pricy but very worth every dime !
Excellent Hill Country Q just a few blocks south of the more notorious, but not nearly as tasty option on 10.
Open and modern dining room, cafeteria style serving…see the meat you want. Great sides. Large drink selection.
Friendly servers behind the counter, quick with answers or a joke.
Brisket moist with nice bark, ribs just-right tender, beans with good cumin kick, coleslaw okay.
All-round great grub and experience!
Wow, truly an amazing experience! I’ve had great brisket, but this is one of the best brisket I’ve had. Super juicy and meaty and the sausage was great too! They seem to run out a lot in the evening (we got here last night but they only had 2 sausage links left from everything they had), so definitely get here early before everything’s gone! You will not regret it. They even brought out a pup water bowl for my sister’s dog.
I had the pleasure of stopping by Lum’s BBQ, and I can honestly say this spot lives up to its legacy. The plate I ordered came stacked with ribs, sausage, mac and cheese, and potato salad—all served up with that no-frills, classic Texas presentation.
The ribs had a fantastic bark and rich smoky flavor. While the beef was a bit on the dry side, I’m not necessarily counting that as a negative—it could very well be due to the specific cut or the style they’re aiming for. As any BBQ lover knows, there are a lot of variables in the smoking process, and I respect that.
Now, let’s talk sides—the macaroni was absolutely delicious. Creamy, well-seasoned, and comfort-food perfect. The potato salad also hit the mark—balanced, flavorful, and a great complement to the meats.
You can feel the tradition and pride in this place. Family-owned since 1976, and you can taste the experience. I’ll definitely be back.
