The food and staff were amazing! It was the only home cooked meal I had on our time away from home. The staff were so friendly, lots of tables (even some outside upstairs if you want to sit out). It’s a simple restaurant seating, would be easy to have a party or large group upstairs (think it’s only stairs, not sure but also a washroom located up there). Some tables are on the main floor which would be wheel chair accessible.
It’s not fancy. It smells like 100% bbq the moment you walk in, which is amazing and how you tell it’s all fresh. Loved it.
I was skeptical since it’s behind the gas station but it’s amazing. Will go back.
The hours and prices are the reason for the 3 stars and not 5. It’s a bbq house yet only open till 2 pm and only on some days. This is the kind of meal I’d more want for a dinner but not an option I guess unless you planned ahead and did take out. I’d love to see evening hours. Will try to stop by next time we are in the area as it’s absolutely worth the trip in.
We got the 3 meat platter for one person and shared it between 2 of us as it was lunch time (the only time they are open). Our cost with a $5 tip ended up being $50.17 Canadian for 2 drinks and one meal. It was overpriced for what we got for sure.
The chicken bomb was great after the first bite being a little dry. It was later for lunch than usual, and chicken dries quickly, so it was not a surprise. The slaw tossed in the tomatilla sauce was quite tasty. The brisket and pork tacos were top notch. Rib meat quesadilla had a great taste and pecan cobbler was on point. Great breeze upstairs watching the track below with several supercars going by.
I read almost all the reviews and came to the conclusion. It’s no different than our national election. You can’t please all the people. Perhaps they might take on the task of providing the world with the Greatest BB-Q ever? My experience, food, atmosphere was more than adequate. Actually I will choose to eat here again because I can. Only in America do you have so many choices where to dine. In conclusion take the doubters with a grain of salt. They were probably not having a GREAT DAY, and can’t find positive things in anything.
I recommend this close establishment definitely. The cost is a little up but for the taste, well worth it. Brisket did have some fat and almost a little to much pepper for someone that doesn’t like pepper, yet I ate the slices and the regular sausage. The okra was good on taste but a little soggy. I had to use air fryer to. make a bit crunchy for me, my liking. Chopped brisket is just as good and worked well going on bread with BBQ sauce.
I am hesitant to post this review about BBQ on the Brazos. Hear me out, I selfishly want you people to coast down the road and not stop in at this joint in Cresson, but I realize I would be doing a huge INJUSTICE to my fellow human beings. This place is a hole in the wall that has award winning BBQ. I personally believe they have the best Breakfast Tacos that rival anything in DFW. The atmosphere is laid back, and the owner and staff are friendly. Get anything on the menu… I promise you, you will be back when you’re in the neighborhood. BBQ on the Brazos is a treasure.
