The fusion of middle eastern flavors and texas bbq caught my attention so I thought I’d give this a try. Brisket rice bowl tasted great in regards to flavor, however, lacked any substantial amount of meat to even rate the brisket. The pieces I did get were fatty and had very little meat. The pork ribs were tasty could have been a little more tender. The pink potato salad and baladi salad was pretty good. Didn’t care too much for the Egyptian mac and cheese. Hibiscus mint tea was good too. Would i go back? No. Price point was too much. $30 for 4 ribs. 18.50 for the rice bowl with virtually no meat. Go there for the experience if u must.

The most amazing food! Had the combo brisket and lamb rice bowl, potato salad, mac and cheese and both desserts and it was all so delicious. The flavors were incredible! Hats off to Kareem! The wait in line to when we got food was 80 min Sun at noon. Totally worth it. Can’t wait to come back!

We finally made it to KG, and it did not disappoint!

The service was excellent—staff were friendly, attentive, and happy to answer any questions we had. The atmosphere was great too. The food truck shares an indoor/outdoor space with a brewery that offers plenty of seating. We chose to sit outside since the weather was beautiful. The only downside was the number of flies, which got pretty annoying. It would be a nice touch if they offered fly fans to help keep them away. That said, the wall-mounted rotating fans kept us cool, even though it wasn’t an especially hot day.

Now onto the best part—the food! We tried the lamb chops, brisket, pork ribs, and a cup of every side they offer. The lamb chops were the clear winner: perfectly cooked and incredibly well-seasoned. Next up were the pork ribs, which had a unique pomegranate flavor—something I’ve never tasted with ribs before, and now I don’t want them any other way.

We were asked if we wanted our brisket juicy or lean. We went with lean, but in hindsight, we should’ve chosen juicy. It was flavorful and smoky but a little on the dry side.

Oh – and the BBQ sauce was delicious! I could drink it.

As for the sides, the rice and potato salad were the standouts, followed by the cucumber salad. The mac and cheese ranked last for me—not because of the flavor (the cheese sauce was tasty), but because it was made with shell pasta, which I personally don’t enjoy due to the texture.

Drink-wise, KG only offers tea and an iced coffee-style drink. Luckily, the brewery next door has water, soda, and beer, which worked out perfectly for us.

Overall, KG was delicious! The owner is clearly a creative genius for merging Egyptian flavors with BBQ. I can’t wait to come back the next time we’re in Austin!

Amazing blend of Texas BBQ with Egyptian flavors. If you are looking for BBQ full of flavor KG BBQ is where it’s at. The brisket was so tender that it fell apart. The ribs burst with flavor!!! Expect to wait in line and they only have an outdoor patio. You can take your food to the brewery to eat inside if needed. I will be back for more of their tasty food the next time I am in Austin.

Everything we tried was great! A burst of flavors. The line was really long but they move fast. They got our order wrong. We asked for .5lb of lamb chomps and 1lb brisket, they mixed it up. We didn’t notice until we got our order. It would be a good idea for the cashier to read back the order. This is about $180 worth of BBQ for two people but we had left overs for a few meals. We will definitely be back.
