Two ribs. Two tiny ribs. For a dinner. I stopped here since the two other restaurants I was going to were closed. I was the only customer, but barely saw the waitress. I ordered dinner at a barbeque place, and surprisingly, I get two tiny ribs and a big bowl of beans. Not the ratio I was expecting. I have never ordered a rib plate and received two ribs.

Passing through town on a Sunday late afternoon, and chose this place because most other spots in town were closed. We ordered 2 plates, rib/brisket and a Chicken fried steak. All the food was good, mac/cheese very plain box type. Charro beans delicious and ordered a to go side. Quite the shock when we received a ,maybe 4 ounce container compared to a large cup on our plates. See pic. The cups for dining sides are about 3 or 4 times bigger than the to go container. Service was friendly but lacked . For most of the time we were the only diners inside and not busy ,so no excuse for mistakes. My order was wrong, they brought out chicken fried chicken, when I ordered steak. They replaced but took my plate back so I had to share from my wife's food until my plate came back.. Family place, and still shows signs of being built, paint ,tools, laying around ,wobbly table. Surcharge for credit card . Charged for things we didn't order, but they adjusted after bringing to their attention.

Well, for starters, I got the facility was closed, but it wasn't. I was greeted by a very nice lady. I tipped her well. I ordered chicken brisket and sausage with potato salad and mac & cheese. I also ordered the second plate with the same thing. I did speak with the owner of the facility. I was inquiring about chopped rib tips as he stated, they don't do it, which is fine. So I tried the barbecue chicken. I tried a pickle after a couple bites to notice. They are gas grill instead of charcoal. I get it. People have their difference, but the chicken had a very strong gas fuel taste on it. In my opinion, so was the brisket and the brisket had a lot of fatty parts to it instead of just meat, and a mix but not just fat as I was eating the string beans Something slightly hard I came across didn't examine it just I spit it out I proceeded to try the potato salad, and there was eggshells in the potato salad, and in my opinion, it was a little watery the loaded potato the cheese wasn't melted on it, which it would've been nice to have the cheese somewhat melted on it. Long story short I like charcoal grill instead of gas a lot of people use the gas and it overpower the taste of me. I didn't like the fact that the string beans and the potato salad has something in. It spent a good chunk change for two plates and in my opinion good Services, but the meat was definitely not for me. Once again, the Services was nice.

I usually avoid leaving critical reviews for new businesses because I understand how challenging it can be to run one. That said, I write this with love and hope that this spot can one day become a must-stop destination for all travelers on I-10. 1. First and foremost, serving fresh food is essential. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes I received were spoiled and had an unpleasant smell. I assume they may have been pre-packed and left out too long, but this is something that needs close attention. 2. Perhaps I visited during a difficult time—it was 6 PM, and they were out of both brisket and chicken. I ended up ordering the ribs, but they were very dry, almost like beef jerky, and lacked meat. I came in with high hopes due to the glowing reviews, but based on this experience, I have to give 2 stars. However, I encourage others to give this place a chance—perhaps they'll prove me wrong and make the adjustments needed to live up to the hype. For now, though, I regret skipping McDonald's for this stop. Hopefully, next time it will be a different story.

Although the sausage and chicken were flavorful, the brisket was dry while potato salad was quite watery. At this price point (see pictures for new pricing), the quality was a bit disappointing. Anyway, still a good alternative to the fast food if you stay in Van Horn for a night.
