Been meaning to stop in for some barbecue I'm a truck driver I pass by all the time, I fuel up and spend nights at Amigos truckstop across the street. I went and got me a moist brisket sandwich, met Joel himself. The brisket was moist. The place was bustling. The service was excellent ( Joel) one of the better brisket sandwiches I have ever had. The iced tea could've been a little stronger, but that's just me...I also drink jet fuel black coffee.🥴 I highly highly recommend exit 661 easy in and out! this is Texas barbecue!!!

Cute place and had high hopes! Feels very Texas authentic, not fancy, which I loved. I liked the rustic ambiance, even if it was a little bare and lacked personality in the dining hall. The service was "fine" in that they took our order and got it right, but with the three employees we interacted with I didn't get a single smile or any effort at customer service. They just did their job.Sadly, the brisket was super tough and flavorless. Probably the driest brisket I've ever had in Texas! My mom said her turkey sandwich was pretty good so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. And maybe they were just having an off day, but hopefully they do better with their other customers!

We went around 12:30 on a Monday. Got our food right away. Sat and ate and back on the road in no time. I was happy.

I made a stop here (3pm on a Friday) because I was told they have a good brisket sandwich. The business has two buildings: a smokehouse where you order and a dining hall where you can eat in that has air conditioning.Pricing is straight forward. Taxes are included.I had a Texas Sized Sliced Beef Sandwich (8.45) and a half chicken (8.75).The sandwich was good standard fare. Brisket was from the point cut and had a good amount of fatty moisture to it. It had a good amount of smokiness to it. The sauce was a bit much in my opinion. This will be a trend.Chicken was very moist, I suspect it was brined prior to smoking. It was seasoned with a lot of paprika.Barbecus sauce was thinnish, and a bright sauce kind of tart and sweet. No pepper in it. In fact I can detect no pepper in any of the meat I tasted. The baked potato (11.25) was a little disappointing. The barbecue sauce they put on overpowered the food put on. It was too strong. Also placed two slices of American cheese on top.Overall the food was good, but the one thing I would recommend is what I was recommended: the brisket sandwich.

Must have lunch on the big beautiful rustic picnic table on the patio. It's very comfortable on a cool spring day in March. Inside dining is also available with large clean bathrooms. I highly recommend it for atmosphere and food was also very good of course. I had a regular size brisket sandwich that was very meaty, a sausage wrap and beans for about $10-12. Great place to watch the world go by in Old Town.
